När blev läroverket Thomasgymnasiet?

Då återstår frågan om skolans namn. När blev Strängnäs läroverk Thomasgymnasiet? 

Läsåret 1970/ 71 genomfördes slutligen den stora så kallade nationella gymnasiereformen.  Det var den reform som la grunden till den gymnasieskola vi har i Sverige idag. I samband med denna reform ombildades Strängnäs läroverk till Thomasgymnasiet

Namnet är naturligtvis taget efter den omtalade Strängnäsbiskopen Thomas som står staty på skolans innergård. Idag är Biskop Thomas mest känd för att omkring år 1439 ha författat den så kallade Frihetsvisan.

Then the question remains about the name of the school. When did Strängnäs Charter School turn into Thomas Upper Secondary School?

During the school year 1970/71 the so called National upper secondary school reform was implemented. This reform was the foundation of the current upper secondary school system. At the time of the reform, Strängnäs Charter School turned into Thomas Upper Secondary School.

The 1980s and 1990s

During the 1980s the School made contact with countries outside of Sweden. Teachers at Thomas Upper Secondary School began to arrange study trips and field trips to Europe with their students. Another significant feature during the 1980s and 1990s was the focus on orienteering as a competitive sport that attracted ambitious students from across the country. As a result, a huge interest in sports was developed at the School. The Thomas Race was introduced during this time as well as the arrangement of a number of matches and exchanges with other schools.
