Confirmation in English

During the month of June your teenager will receive an invitation to confirmation in the Church of Sweden. The letter you receive now is addressed to parents and guardians. It lets you know about our confirmation programs and the different options available.

Adolescence is an exciting, challenging and sometimes quite tough time, partly for the teenager, but also for the family. We face many of life's big questions, about self - image, relationships, friendship, meaning, life, and death. During the confirmation year we want to give young people the space to reflect on these issues based on their own thoughts and the Christian faith. We also want to share the foundations, values, and attitudes of Christianity. The confirmation year will be about the Christian faith and about your teen.

When you are 14 years old, you need to feel that you are accepted. That is why we want to help young people believe in themselves, be proud of who they are and give them hope for life.

Everyone is welcome - it does not matter if you believe, doubt or are just curious. We have a simple and varied pedagogy. We hope that those who have struggled in school will find our approach accessible and inclusive.

There are many different confirmation groups in Linköping to choose from.  Your teen chooses the group that is best suited in terms of what day works best, regardless of where you live. Some groups meet every week, others some weekends during the year and some during the summer holidays.

All confirmation groups are free. More information and registration are available at konfirmandlinkoping.se

Do you have to be baptized?

No, even those who are not baptized can participate in the confirmation meetings. But to be confirmed at the end of the year, one must be baptized, and baptism takes place sometime during the confirmation year. One can be confirmed even if parents or guardians are not members of the Church of Sweden.

Does your teen have special needs?

Everyone is equally welcome! Contact us and we will help find a group that works for your teen.
