The urban photographs of artist Gökçe Erenmemisoglu taut with conflict and yet expansive and visionary in their execution. As a fine art photographer, Gökçe travels around the world to major urban centers and records images of the cities themselves and the inherent conflicts and tensions contained within. He describes these conflicts through the medium of photography in a graphic way that catches the eye and invites an entirely new perspective on modern vistas and forms both familiar and entirely new. Rather than take straightforward portraits of his urban subjects, Gökçe prefers to capture people as they move about their daily lives, looking specifically at the ways in which the city they live in comes to affect those lives. Other common elements and themes woven throughout his work include cultural encounters and the persistence of protest, whether subtle or overt.
Gökçe Erenmemişoğlu started his photography career in 1992. Many of his commercial works have received prestigious awards in such international advertising competitions as Epica, Golden Drum, Cannes Lions, NY Fest. He also has been chosen to be in the grand jury of Crystal Apple advertising competition, in 2011 and 2014.
Gökçe’s food photography has been published in several cookbooks which he won photography awards in “Gourmand” competition in Paris and “Pink Lady Food Photographer of the year” awards in London, in 2013.
In 2014, as a fine art photographer, Gökçe joined “Illumination” exhibition in “Agora Gallery” in NYC. He attended the “PARIMAGES” exhibition in “Galerie Etienne de Causans” in Paris, in 2015.
