Stockholm Conference on Ethnic Cleansing
An International Conference on the theme Ethnic Cleansing" will be held in Stockholm immediately following the Conference on the Holocaust sponsored by the Swedish Government. The purpose of this conference, which will take place 29th--31st January, is to produce an international statement on how to prevent ethnic cleansing and on how to achieve reconciliation in areas where people have been persecuted and killed because of their ethnic origin or religion. This conference will also lay the foundation for an international network designed to prevent ethnic cleansing in the future.
Two American Institutes -Global Strategies for Religious Liberty and the J. M. Dawson Institute of Church State Studies - have arranged the Conference in conjunction with the Church of Sweden. Speakers include representatives from various churches and ecumenical organisations as well as from the UN and leaders of various voluntary organisations.
