ACTS OF SENDING

  An act of sending may be celebrated as a Service of Holy Communion with Sending in its own right. Alternatively it may be integrated in the Parish Eucharist or in the Solemn Sunday Service.
             
             
             
 

COMMUNION AND SENDING

         

Where no other instruction is given, the Order of Service for Holy Communion as stated in the Service Book is followed

 

I Introduction

 

Introit Hymn

         

The Procession (Crucifer, Choir, Those to be Sent, the Assistants, and the Bishop) enter during the hymn or during music that introduces the hymn.

 

The Preparation

         

One of the assistants leads the Preparation from a Lectern in the Quire

  A In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

The Absolution

 

Prayer of Thanksgiving

  The Introit
         

The Bishop moves to the altar.

 

II The Calling and Intercessions

 

The Reading(s)

          One or several of the assistants read one or more biblical passages.
 

The Homily

         

The Bishop gives the homily

 

The Announcement

         

The Bishop may say:

  B At the request of ... the Church of Sweden has through ... issued the following letter of calling.
         

The Letter of Calling or a similar document is read and thereafter handed to the bishop. As the names are read out, the candidates go to the bishop.

 

Declaration of Intent

  B Will you, with the help of God undertake the task to which you have been called?
  Candidates Yes
 

The Blessing

  B He who has called you is faithful. He will give you the confidence and strength that you need to live according to your calling. .
         

The Bishop gives the Letter of Calling to those being sent. Short words of greeting (in the form of biblical readings) to those being sent and to those who will receive them may be read by representatives from the sending institution, the parish etc.

         

Those being sent return to their places.

Holy Communion with Sending

  The Introduction follows the order for Communion and Sending until after the Introit. Then the order for Holy Communion is followed from the Kyrie, Gloria, Collect, readings Gradual Hymn, Gospel and Sermon according to the instruction in the Service Book for Holy Communion. Then the order for Communion with Sending is followed from the Announcement to the Postlude.
             
             
             
 

Solemn Sunday Service with Sending

  If the Service of sending is integrated into the Solemn Sunday Service the instructions given for Holy Communion are followed as appropriate.
